What is it?
Meditation consists of engaging in simple and ancient practices
that have been developed to help focus and concentrate our thoughts, feelings and emotions. The practices can develop greater
emotional robustness and positivity.
We teach the mindfulness of breathing and the metta bhavana meditation techniques. These practices are very old and have been proven over the centuries
to work! Meditation is
a fundamental tool which if practiced regularly, develops one’s self awareness, making one more conscious and therefore
more able to be creative with one’s life.
Throughout the year we run introductory meditation courses.
The role of friendship
Buddhism emphasises
the need of the support of others travelling along the same path. For many of us, the need to find connections in a world
increasingly based on insubstantial and hollow values, is pressing.
fwbo/tbc highlands have activities throughout the year, from weekend retreats to meditation workshops, with the aim of supporting our collective practice.
