A
six week introductory course. An introduction to meditation and Buddhism which takes the form of a practical course in
mindfulness.
It is suitable both for those completely new to meditation, and also for those who have already
done the previous introductory course.
“Mindfulness is something you do, like volleyball or cooking;
it’s not an abstract theory. And it’s not something that can be pinned down to a final definition –
just as you can’t pin down ‘art’ or ‘beauty’. One description of mindfulness is ‘paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgementally’.
That’s
fine as far as it goes. It’s enough to get us going. But it’s only the beginning…” This course will be based upon the material in Maitreyabandhu’s book of the same name. It is available from Windhorse publications, though it is not necessary to purchase a copy to come to the classes.
